Historical Background
His appearance in canon
Teutonic Order is the younger version of Prussia in Axis Power Hetalia. Before Prussia grew into a nation, he was a dirty little knight that ran around trying to convert pagans to Christianity and gain land for his own.
Knights in the 13th century weren't as gentlemanly as the movies like to make them out to be. Backed by the Pope, the King and lots and lots of money, The Teutonic Knights, despite being known as a very religious and strict brotherhood, were infamous for their brutality and their drunkenness. The Military order of the Teutonic knights was mainly focused in the Baltic against the pagan Prussians there; their job was to convert the non-believers and kill off anyone who dared fight back.
Because they were so far from any authority, the Teutonic knights had almost complete freedom to do as they pleased. Meaning, they did not hold back against the pagans, and in the turn, the pagans did not hold back against the knights.
Medieval times were dangerous for everyone. It was a harsh time to be alive.
[Personality]
As a child nation growing up in this period, Teutonic Order was, without a doubt, exposed to all the horrors of war, death, disease and all kinds of crazy stuff. Teuton has been around for probably about a century. Having lived so long, there's not much he hasn't seen. Medieval Knights were infamous for torture, rape, and murder. He's young still, so he's been around violence since he was a toddler.
This means that he is not easily frightened or traumatized. He's a hardened little soldier. He's comfortable covered in blood and guts with a dead guy at his feet. In fact, he's more than comfortable!!! He's radiating with pride that he's out doing God's work!
Nothing fazes him. He's fearless. His ego is huge; he loves to boast about himself and remind everyone about how amazing and cool he is. Hell, if you looked up "Confidence" or "Awesome" in the dictionary, his fat little face would be there grinning at you. He believes that he's the manliest thing to walk on earth. The kid can even be bloodthirsty at times; there's nothing he won't do to try to get into a fight.
Along with being power-hungry , he's extremely religious; he'll scold, nag and accuse everyone of being a sinner while his own actions don't match with what he preaches. He's the biggest hypocrite known to man and it's okay because in his mind, he's acting as God's messenger and therefore everything he does is justifiable and right. Teuton is babied and protected by his bosses. The pope doesn't interfere or set limits on the kid and his own knights are too busy to really discipline him. It's canon that he does whatever he wants and is constantly praying and crying to the Pope for forgiveness.
Due to the lack of simple authority and limits in his life, Teutonic Order truly believes he is the boss and everyone will one day serve him. He's demanding and pushy. He has no manners. He won't say please and thank you, and he eats and behaves like an animal at times. He dreams big and if asked what was his goal in life, he'd probably answer that he wishes to one day rule the entire world.
He is a brat and if he doesn't get his way, he's likely to throw a tantrum, or whine and complain until he's won his battle. His emotional control is poor; he's quick to anger and lash out. He's endlessly defiant and stubborn unless he respects or fears the person he's with. Once you get his respect, he'll show his sweet side more.
He's not used to people telling him what to do. He also has a hard time listening and following directions. In the manga, Hungary is his only and best childhood friend, and even though he's being paid to work for Hungary, he runs off before hearing what she has to say.
He's a child, so he still needs things to explained to him or else they'll fly over his head. He understands everything as a fight. He can only work out problems by making a fuss first, so he can be difficult to reason with.
To simply sum up his personality: Teuton is the most obnoxious, annoying, hyperactive, prideful rude and rebellious child anyone has ever had the misfortune to meet. He is on many levels: A PAIN IN THE ASS. Running around with a pack of unruly knights would make any child have extreme behavior problems. Teuton is no exception. He is constantly picking fights, making his own rules, bossing everyone around and basically doing as he pleases.
[Specialties/Abilities] He's a normal little kid! A little kid who can take down armies, but a little kid nonetheless.
[Affection]
Anything is fine! He kinda tsuntsun when it comes to affection, he'll only want it from people he sees as caregivers. He's constantly torn between a need to be manly and a childish need for comfort.
He is a hug giver! But only if he really really really likes you. He loves giving pats
[Fighting] Sure! Injuries are okay, he's had sword through his stomach. He can take quite a beating without crying, He'll only cry if he feels it CAME OUT OF NOWHERE (like getting a slap for being a pest). He's good with his sword and fists, so he's not defenseless.
Against an adult: He won't be scared to start a fight. Though he's not easily intimidated, He can be cowardly though. As soon as things get to much for him, he'll beg for mercy.

Like most wild animals, He is easily tamed with treats! Candy candy sweet stuff. He can be easily swayed by food
He has lots and lots of brothers, most of which are states under the Holy Roman Empire.
He doesn't like to be abandoned or left alone but he won't admit to it.
He has a weakness for cute things. If he finds someone cute, he'll get attached them fast and shower them with affection.
He drinks! Excessively! History has shown that German knights honored anyone who could handle crazy amounts of alcohol. He's not human so when he drinks, he won't poison himself or die, he'll just get really drunk and hung over which makes him hyper and then whiny.
He's super sensitive about his looks. Having red eyes and white hair in the 13th century means you get treated like a monster sometimes.
He's a bad kid, but his heart is good. He's the type of kid that will tear up over something small and try to hide it because he's embarrassed of seeming weak. If someone is sad or troubled, he'll always has a smile and a pat for them. He'll go out of his way to cheer someone up (as long as they aren't a pagan).
